CV of Prof. Dr. Stefanie Tränkle

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Tränkle has been teaching criminology and sociology at the Police College Baden-Wuerttemberg (Villingen-Schwenningen) since March 2010. She is also responsible for relations to Police forces and partner universities in France.

From 2008 to 2010, she worked for an international Children’s Rights organisation (ECPAT). She was coordinator and leader of a project involving 11 countries and funded by the European Union whose aim was to prevent child sex tourism, a phenomenon related to child pornography and child trafficking.

In 2007, she started teaching at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg

She went to the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge, as visiting scholar in 2005.

From 2001 to 2004, she was a doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal
Law, Freiburg (2001-2004). Her doctoral thesis was about victim offender mediation whose application and functioning
she studied both in France and Germany.

Her interest in criminology goes back to her working experience at the Institute of Criminology at the University of Tuebingen during her studies of sociology and French literature in the 1990’s.

o    Qualitative Research (Grounded Theory Methodology)
o    Juvenile delinquency
o    Trafficking of Woman and Children/Prostitution
o    Mediation/Restorative Justice
